ANKARA WIND TUNNEL
Ankara Wind Tunnel (ART) is a closed circuit, horizontal loop, atmospheric and closed test chamber wind tunnel operating at low subsonic speeds. Wind tunnels are infrastructures used to test the interaction of objects with air flow. The aerodynamic examinations in the designs should be carried out in three stages, respectively, numerical modeling, experimental work (wind tunnel trials), and flight trial/functional testing. Wind tunnel tests are very important due to reasons such as the analysis of air flow by numerical modeling takes a long time and needs verification, and real experiments can be complex, expensive and dangerous.
Our services
Load measurement tests are performed to determine aerodynamic loads. External balances and internal balances are used to find aerodynamic forces and moments acting on the model in different speed, angle and model configurations.
In these tests, the model is integrated into the test chamber in accordance with the desired geometrical conditions, speed and time, and the wind is given and it is checked whether there is any deformation or rupture on the model.
Surface pressure measurements can be performed with 64 channel pressure scanner. Scanner limit is ±1 psi (±6894.7 Pascal) and it is suitable for use at all speed range where AWT operates.
Flow visualization tests are performed when flow characteristics on the model are needed to be determined and displayed.
Wind tunnel models are generally produced using aluminum, steel, composite or wooden materials.
