ANKARA WIND TUNNEL(AWT)
Ankara Wind Tunnel (AWT) is a closed return, horizontal axis, atmospheric wind tunnel operating at low subsonic speeds and has a closed test section. Wind tunnels are infrastructures used to test the interaction of objects with air flow. Aerodynamic design studies should be done in three stages; numerical modeling, experimental study (wind tunnel test) and flight/functional testing. Wind tunnel tests are very necessary stages of design studies due to long durations and verification requirements of the flow simulations in numerical modeling and complexity, expensiveness and possible risks of the flight/functional tests.

Services
Load measurement tests are performed to determine aerodynamic loads. External balances and internal balances are used to find aerodynamic forces and moments acting on the model in different speed, angle and model configurations.
Bu testlerde model test odasına uygun şekilde bütünlenerek istenen geometrik koşul, hız ve sürelerde rüzgâr verilmekte ve model üzerinde herhangi bir deformasyon veya kopma olup olmadığı kontrol edilmektedir.
Surface pressure measurements can be performed with 64 channel pressure scanner. Scanner limit is ±1 psi (±6894.7 Pascal) and it is suitable for use at all speed range where AWT operates.
Flow visualization tests are performed when flow characteristics on the model are needed to be determined and displayed.
Wind tunnel models are generally produced using aluminum, steel, composite or wooden materials.
